Life Skills Workshops
Life Skills Workshops are included with every client’s weekly schedule and are a valuable aspect of Breathe Life Healing Centers.
When substance use disorders, eating disorders, mental illnesses, or a combination of these conditions are occurring, individuals become so consumed with what they are experiencing that they tend to lose themselves along the way. For example, they might isolate themselves so much that they no longer see any value in having friends or family in their lives, ignore the need for a spiritual presence in their lives, forget the things that used to bring them happiness or know how to love and be loved. Substance use disorders, eating disorders, and mental illnesses are serious conditions that can completely deplete an individual to a point where he or she feels like a shell of themselves. This is very common in those who find their way into treatment, which is why we offer the life skills workshops in Los Angeles.
Breathe’s life skills workshops in Los Angeles provide emotional and educational support to those in the very beginning stages of their recovery. Professionals with all different kinds of backgrounds will offer clients direction and guidance during these workshops which last 90 minutes each and are spread out over the course of 90 days. Through faith and focus can come discussion, contemplation, mindfulness, and interaction between clients. This particular workshop occurs on a Sunday morning for 90 minutes.
A major part of one’s recovery is being able to be of service. Volunteering oneself is a significant part of recovery, as it helps keep clients connected to their well-being. Through the Service Station life skills workshop, clients are given the opportunity to go outside of themselves in an effort to help others within the community. There comes a powerful spiritual process by helping others, including by participating in 12-Step communities.
The family unit is one that impacts clients in both negative and positive ways. The family therapy class workshop in Los Angeles allows clients to explore roles in the family, uncover core feelings, and participate in family mapping. Food + Mood
Our life skills workshops in Los Angeles focuses on health, weight, exercise, and the relationships that clients have with food. We utilize the ways that we eat as evidence of the connection to the spirit, so nutritional counseling and personal trainers are supplied while clients work to explore redefining their relationships with food.
StrengthsFinder 2.0 by Tom Rath
This specific book and accompanying online assessment are utilized by clients to help them identify the innate skills they already have and utilize them to their benefit for future endeavors. StrengthsFinder addresses the 34 most common skills that people have and then places focus on leveraging those skills instead of trying to fix weaknesses.
You @ 5
You @ 5 focuses on asking clients to reclaim their authentic self, which is otherwise known as the inner child or creative self. The client looks at healing the creative child as well as the adult that is within them in an effort to live in the world as they intend to be.
The Ark: Building Relationships That Float
With a focus on relationships, love, and sex, clients examine how wounds from their family of origin are internalized and expressed throughout their relationships. Clients can gain a better understanding of why they might choose people who end up hurting them or who they strive to change. They start to find new ways to break patterns that are not positive and move into fostering positive relationships in an effort to end feelings of loneliness and sadness.
Body drama focuses on how clients live in their skin and what types of things they carry with them, such as trauma, drama, and “battleground beliefs”. Through this workshop, clients utilize hands-on activities such as creating collages and body mapping to help develop peace throughout the body.
Many clients participating in life skills workshops in Los Angeles are struggling with financial problems. Therefore, clients will learn the ABC’s of money and how to manage it. Specifically, Money Matters focuses on helping clients understand the balance between financial integrity and understanding wants vs. needs and balancing accounts.
Legacy building focuses on codependency and how parts of it serve the client but other parts do not. Codependency can interfere with a client’s life in ways that stop them from achieving their goals, however, each clients’ experience with codependency will vary. As a result, Legacy Building works to help clients improve the quality and control of their life without relying on codependency.
