I’m from Los Angeles, CA, and my work in treatment has been deeply shaped by my own journey through addiction and mental health recovery. At four years sober, I’m grateful every day for the people who helped me get into treatment and supported me through it. I’ll never forget how they met me where I was without judgment and helped me feel hopeful for the first time in a long time. It’s a privilege to now work in an environment where clients and staff show up each day to support one another.
I live by the mantra: Nothing changes if nothing changes. Choosing to get better is hard, but it’s always worth it. Asking for help is often the scariest and most important step in growth, and it’s deeply moving to walk alongside people as they take that brave first step. Being trusted in those vulnerable moments is something I never take for granted.
When I’m not working, I’m usually reading or hiking with my dog, Apple. We’re close to finishing our goal of hiking every trail in Griffith park. Spending time outdoors has become an important part of how I recharge, and being with Apple makes it that much more fun and motivates me to get out there a few times a week.
